Motion A – INDUSTRIAL ACTION TO FIGHT JOB LOSSES
Newcastle UCU notes
- The ongoing dispute with the employer concerning job losses across the institution; failure to rule out compulsory redundancies; detrimental impact of cuts on staff, including increases in workload, and its impact on health and wellbeing.
- The successful ballot with a very high turnout

- That we will continue to organise through working groups, re-establish the action committee and work with students to bring pressure upon the employer
Newcastle UCU branch resolves
- To commence Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) as soon as possible for the duration of the mandate
- Working to contract
- Not undertaking voluntary duties
- Not providing cover for non-replaced staff
- To take escalating strike action as soon as possible for four weeks
- Week 1: 2 days of strike action
- Week 2: 3 days of strike action
- Week 3: 4 days of strike action
- Week 4: 5 days of strike action
- To instruct the committee to select dates of strike action during term-time to maximise their impact
