Industrial Action 2025

At a well attended branch meeting on Friday 27th June 2025, members voted to accept the offer university management put on the table and thereby to finally resolve the dispute over compulsory redundancies, workload, precarity, and health and safety.  It was clear from the meeting that management has to do a lot of work to rebuild trust and morale. This deal is a considerable achievement on behalf of the members, and this is a massive well done and thank you to all who participated!

This means our current ballot is called off, as the dispute is resolved, and we expect the employer to honour their word.

Dispute concerning job losses across the institution; failure to rule out compulsory redundancies; detrimental impact of cuts on staff, including increases in workload, and its impact on health and wellbeing.

82.76% of members have voted in favour of strike action, and 88.37% in favour of action short of a strike, with a turnout of 64.29%.
